A Historic Moment In Mike Maida's Career

Here's a quick pop quiz for everyone:
Q: Who is the only active Sadies player to have a hit against Sadies in an official regular season or playoff game?
A: The great Mike Maida. On Thursday, June 26th 2008, Maida arrived late for the game versus 3 Sons and was inserted into the game immediately...as a member of 3 Sons because they were short players. He stepped to the plate without an ounce of stretching and laced his usual rocket between short and third (see dramatization photo above). By the third inning 3 Sons had their players and Maida was back wearing his Sadies orange. Yet another dramatic moment in Maida's storied career.
Someone in the stands was overheard asking the following question as Maida finished his follow through: "Is this heaven?"
Maida replied: "No, it's Waltham but I can understand how my perfect swing would make you think that."

Adam Shread Powers Sadies to Victory
Late last night Adam was wondering where the hell his kid and his girlfriend were. But the only people wondering at the end were Mad Raven. They rallied late and came within a run but after some clutch hitting Shread came up with the bases juiced in the 6th and hit a backbreaking grand slam over the left fielders head to put the game well out of reach for Mad Raven. Adam obviously celebrated well into the night.

Matt Z gunning for rookie of the year

Groten, Ma
Matt Z's First night playing for the Champion Sadie's softball team was quite the adventure. But valuable lessons were learned. Lesson one its not a good thing to collide with the coach on a routine pop up to second once in a game but three times is a bit much. But it wasn't all that bad, Matt smoked a ball between third and short for his first career hit. He hopes there are many more hits just like that to come in his future. There was also a ball smoked to Matt at second that got just under his glove. I pleaded to Christine to rule it a hit but she scored it an error after Nancy said "He Bucknered it" Oh well, game one is in the books for Matt and I'm sure next time he'll say "I got it"! as he guns for Rookie of the Year honors.
